Portals
What a portal is
A portal is a glowing wormhole in the world. Behind it there is a Cobblemon Raid Dens raid with one boss. It stays open for a while, then it fades away.
Using a portal
- Walk in. Get close to the middle of a portal (about a block and a half) and you go into the raid. This can be turned off with
enter_when_close. - Right click a portal for the same result.
- Left click removes it. This can be turned off with
allow_player_delete. - The rules of Raid Dens still apply: keys for the tiers that need one, the number of players, the clears, the queue to join a raid that is already running.
- When you come back from the raid, you land where you left, close to the portal. It does not take you again until you have stepped away.
When a portal opens near a player, a message says so.
Color
The color of a portal is the type of the boss: fire is orange, water is blue, and so on, one palette per type. With
vary_color_by_tier_and_rarity the color is also nudged by the tier and by how rare the Pokemon is. A portal opened by hand can take any
color, see Commands.
Size
A portal grows with the tier of its raid. A tier 7 portal is about 60 percent bigger than a tier 1 portal, with a small difference from one portal to the next.
| Tier | Size, tier 1 = 100 % |
|---|---|
| 1 | 100 % |
| 2 | 110 % |
| 3 | 120 % |
| 4 | 131 % |
| 5 | 141 % |
| 6 | 151 % |
| 7 | 161 % |
Look by tier
See them all in the portal viewer.
The portal is a 3D funnel with a white core and bolts of light. The higher the tier, the rarer the portal and the more gold halos it has.
| Tiers | Gold halos |
|---|---|
| 1 to 4 | none |
| 5 | one |
| 6 | two |
| 7 | three |
The tunnel turns slowly on a tier 1 or 2 portal, at a normal pace on tiers 3 to 5, and faster on tiers 6 and 7. The halos are always gold, the rest takes the color of the boss type.
Facing
A portal faces the player it was opened for, in any direction, up and down included, and keeps that direction for as long as it lives: it does not follow you. In a raid, the exit portal faces the boss.
Light
By day a portal shows its colors. In the dark (at night, in a cave) it glows.
Closing
When a portal ends, because its time is over, because the raid is over or because it was removed, it closes with a short animation (about 11 seconds) and cannot be used any more.
In the air
Some natural portals open in the air, between 4 and 24 blocks above the ground by default. See Natural portals. To go in you have to fly, build a tower or use a cage.
How long it stays
An unused portal fades after 5 minutes by default (lifetime_ticks). A raid in progress keeps it open. A legendary portal opened by a key
item stays 30 minutes.
The exit portal
Inside a raid den, the home crystal is replaced by an exit portal. Right click it to leave the raid and go back where you came from. It goes away when nobody is left in the raid dimension.

Walking into a portal opens the raid den, here a poison raid:

Seeing a portal
- Jade shows the boss, its tier, its types and the time left, like a crystal does.
- Xaero's Minimap shows an icon per color and per tier on the radar. The "other entities" category has to be on.
